Job & Task Management

SAGE FOR ACCOUNTANTS - Lead UX Designer 2024/25

As Lead Designer, I defined and led the design of a new Practice Management capability within Sage for Accountants, a strategic investment aimed at making Sage the single platform accountants use to run their entire practice.

I proposed and secured buy-in for a Jobs-based workflow model, enabling practices to plan, manage, and track client work more effectively. Working within a multidisciplinary team, I established the system architecture and delivered the end-to-end experience, designed to scale across practices of varying sizes and complexity.

The solution laid the foundation for future automation and deeper product integration, and has quickly become one of the fastest-adopted features in Sage for Accountants, with 55% usage growth in recent months.

This case study explores how I shaped product strategy, aligned stakeholders, and delivered a scalable workflow platform from 0→1.

Client list redesign

As Lead Designer, I explored the Practice Management opportunity within Sage for Accountants, a key strategic focus in Sage’s vision to become the single platform for running an accounting practice.

I defined and proposed a Jobs framework to enable structured workflow management, secured stakeholder buy-in, and led end-to-end design within a multidisciplinary team. Since launch, Jobs and Task Management has become one of the fastest-adopted features, with 55% usage growth between July and November 2025.

Subscription management

Led the design of a scalable subscription management platform within Sage for Accountants, enabling accountants to manage Sage and third-party products for their clients in a single, unified experience.

The solution streamlined complex workflows such as upgrading, downgrading, and managing subscriptions, while creating new opportunities to surface and upsell Sage’s core products directly within the accountant journey.

Designed to support multiple commercial models and scale across the Sage ecosystem, the platform has been widely adopted since launch, supporting the provisioning of over 287,000 subscriptions.

This case study explores how I balanced user needs, technical constraints, and business goals to deliver a high-impact, platform-level solution.

Smart mobility service concept

FINAL YEAR UNIVERSITY PROJECT - UX Design, Service Design, UX Research, 2017

Explored the design of a smart mobility service for a future where private vehicle ownership is no longer the default. Developed in collaboration with Volkswagen AG, this concept responds to shifting mobility behaviours and the need for more flexible, sustainable transport solutions.

Focusing on rural commuters, the solution connects travellers moving in the same direction, enabling shared journeys and better use of vehicle downtime. The concept aimed to reduce costs, increase flexibility, and create a more efficient mobility ecosystem.

This project showcases end-to-end design thinking — from research and service design through to high-fidelity concepts — balancing user needs, business viability, and emerging mobility trends.

Smart mobility team

THE VOLKSWAGEN GROUP - UX/UI Design Intern, 2016

Explored the future of mobility as a service within Volkswagen Group’s Smart Mobility team, designing end-to-end experiences that extend beyond the vehicle.

Working in a global, multidisciplinary environment, I translated complex user needs, technical constraints, and business strategy into tangible mobility concepts — from early service design through to prototyping and validation.

This work focused on reimagining how users access, interact with, and move through connected mobility ecosystems, aligning stakeholders around new opportunities for digital services, recurring revenue models, and seamless end-to-end journeys.

While outputs remain commercially sensitive, this case study highlights the approach, thinking, and design process behind shaping next-generation mobility experiences at scale.

About me

I’m a UX designer who loves getting stuck into complex problems and turning them into simple, effective experiences. I’m particularly interested in the space where user needs, technical constraints, and business goals collide.

That’s where the most meaningful design happens. Whether it’s shaping 0→1 products or improving existing systems, I enjoy finding the balance that delivers real value for both users and the business.

I’m currently working on large-scale SaaS products at Sage, focusing on workflow systems and platform design. I’m passionate about designing experiences that scale, making complex systems feel intuitive, and creating products that genuinely improve how people work day to day.

Outside of work, I spend a lot of time with my family and my dog, getting out for hikes (preferably somewhere with a good view), or pushing myself through a CrossFit session. I’m also a Newcastle United fan, which means weekends are usually a mix of optimism, stress, and the occasional celebration.
